A Tribute to Gemini 12 & Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the Second Man to walk on the Moon. Astronaut Buzz Aldrin was selected for nasa’s Astronaut Group 3 or “The Fourteen” on October 1963. His first spaceflight was as pilot on Gemini 12, with commander Jim Lovell, the last Gemini mission and the last chance to prove methods for EVA. He utilized revolutionary techniques during training for that mission, including neutrally-buoyant underwater training. Such techniques are still used today. Aldrin set a record for extra-vehicular activity and proved that astronauts could work outside the spacecraft. Aldrin’s next & final spaceflight was Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 11, the first attempt to land humans on the Moon. It was also the second all-veteran crew in manned spaceflight history. Launched on July 16, 1969, it carried Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene ‘Buzz’ Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to land on the Moon, while Collins orbited above. buzzaldrin.com
“Dancing with the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba has delivered her verdict to “The Insider” when it comes to the case of Niecy Nash. She said, “I love watching her. There’s something very special about her. She’s fully committed. She’s so passionate. She gets into character. She moves really, really well. I think for her to go all the way to the end, she’s just going to have to up the difficulty level of some of her moves.” Niecy has voiced that she’s anxious to showcase her assets. “I think working the jiggly parts is absolutely appropriate. Len [Goodman] may have a different opinion on that one though, so be carefuljiggly parts and samba, that’s a winner,” enthused Carrie Ann. “Get ready to rumble!” Louis Van Amstel and our Niecy were launched to next weeks show, but for Buzz Aldrin and partner Ashly Costa, it was mission complete. The moon-man’s ballroom career was grounded by being voted off “DWTS” on Tuesday. Not surprised with the result, the historic astronaut told “The Insider,” “I didn’t start out with a big advantage over everybody else. I had to overcome considerable obstacles–age, may be one of them. Physical agility. Whether I learn things fast or not.” His new friend Erin Andrews may meet sports superstars on a daily basis in her job as an ESPN reporter, but when it comes to Buzz, she said with sheer excitement, “We met a guy that landed on the moon!” The remaining couples get outfitted in another round of sequins when “DWTS” returns on Monday night on ABC.
Reality star Kate Gosselin from the hit show “Jon & Kate plus Eight” was featured on the Jay Leno show. Her segment was called “10 at 10”. She wasn’t literally there, but visible through video and audio. She answered 10 questions which i found irrellevant to anything in her life and I didn’t really hear anything I wanted to hear. However, I did like her in this segment because she seemed happy. She did a great job refraining from saying anything that we might “critize” her for. Well, anything relevant to Jon or Kate is interesting to me and many people word-wide. Whether it is our business or not, they put themselves out there.
